Student / Guarantor Seminar Agreement

Thank you for choosing NEC’s SAT-Preparation seminar. In selecting this course, you can be assured that you have taken a major step in helping to improve your student’s preparedness for the SAT college entrance exam. 

As used in this agreement, The term Guarantor, shall refer to the person(s) i.e., parent or legal guardian who is financially responsible for the undersigned student under the age of 18. The term Guarantor-Student stated herein, refers to the seminar participant over the age of 18 who is financially responsible for him or herself. The term Student refers to the seminar participant.  NEC will hereinafter refer to “National Education Consultants, Inc.”, their officers and staff.

This agreement is made for the sole purpose of enrolling the student in a seminar designed to prepare him or her for taking the SAT college entrance exam and contains the mutual rights and responsibilities of NEC, the student and guarantor.

 A. Tuition

A full refund will be provided should the class be cancelled prior to the first class meeting. A partial refund, proportional to the sessions remaining, will be provided should the seminar be cancelled subsequent to the first meeting.

Tuition is valid only for the dates herein specified unless written approval is given by an NEC official.

In the event an instructor becomes ill or has a personal emergency, make up dates will be assigned by NEC prior to the SAT administration or the student may receive a prorated refund for the rescheduled session only.

Late enrollment into a seminar that has already commenced will be permitted at the full tuition. Such students may take missed sessions during a future seminar (space permitting).

B. Cancellations and Refunds

A cancellation request received prior to 30 days from the scheduled seminar will be entitled to a full refund of any portion of tuition paid upon furnishing proper written notice.

A cancellation request received within 15 days from the scheduled seminar, will be entitled to a 50% refund of the seminar tuition upon furnishing proper written notice.

There will be no refund for any cancellations received within 15 days of the scheduled seminar.

Should the student have to withdraw at any time prior or during the course of the seminar for medical reasons*, he or she will be granted to retake those missed session at a future seminar at no additional charge, pending space available. Once the student begins a repeat seminar, no future tuition-free option will be granted. 

*A medical doctor’s note will be required.

Should the above seminar date be rescheduled by NEC prior to the first class meeting, the Student may cancel this agreement and receive a full refund.

All cancellation requests must be in written form and submitted to NEC, signed and dated by the guarantor or student-guarantor.  The notice must be received or delivered to the address shown at the bottom of this document within the cancellation periods noted above (faxed or email notices will not be accepted).

 Seminar location may be subject to change. Participants will be notified by an NEC representative and on their web site in a timely manner of the location change. (See seminar location)

C. Student Substitution

Another individual may substitute for the aforementioned student providing the original student or guarantor contacts NEC any time up to and including five (5) business days prior to the first seminar session. It shall be noted that responsibilities regarding payment of tuition shall remain with the original undersigned student or guarantor and the substituted student’s information form shall be resubmitted.

D. Recording and Videotaping

Under normal circumstances, no recording or videotape devices shall be permitted in the seminar. If consent by NEC is given, such consent shall be in writing by NEC prior to use of any such recording or videotaping.

E. Materials and other Intellectual Property

All books issued as part of the course are for the students to keep, together with any NEC-issued notebook materials. All issued material by NEC shall not be copied or shared with anyone except other students in the class and parents, and then only for the sole purpose of helping the student study for the SAT. Unauthorized material distribution could subject the student and/or guarantor to copyright infringement penalties.

Seminar fee shall include one set of materials per registrant. At first session, students will be issued a text book which they shall bring to all sessions including: writing equipment, notebook as well as a calculator, if taking math.

The wearing of a watch is recommended so that students may pace themselves for testing.

F. Student Attire

The student is expected to attend class appropriately attired for a classroom and public venue. It is suggested that the student bring a sweater as many commercial establishments tend to maintain low temperatures.

G. Classroom Demeanor

Disruptions; Classroom conditions are simulated to be as close to the actual SAT environment as possible. Any disruptions such as talking or other inappropriate activity that represents a disruption to the classroom or teacher will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal without refund.  Any physical damages to the classroom facility, equipment and material incurred as a result of a student disruption shall be the financial responsibility of the offending student’s Guarantor or student guarantor, whichever appropriate .

Smoking is NOT permitted in the seminar classroom nor anywhere else in or around the host facility unless specifically noted.

Profane Language;  Use of profane, obscene, abusive language or similar gesturing will not be tolerated and will result in immediate dismissal without tuition refund.

Alcohol & Illegal Substances;   Using, possessing, or being under the influence of these substances will not be tolerated and will result in immediate expulsion without tuition refund.

 H. Warranties

Advertising materials and prior representations or agreements, if any, whether written or implied, are hereby superseded by this agreement together with any warranties, promises, guarantees or representations made by or implied by us or anyone acting or claiming to act on NEC’s behalf.

I. Tuition Deposit

A 50% deposit is due at the time of registration with the balance due 30 days before the start of the seminar. Please see deposits on dates and Tuition page.

J. Student Privacy

Although NEC will not solicit communication with anyone but the attending student, the following privacy guidelines will be observed:

  • Students under the age of 18: Their progress information will be made available to the student’s Guarantor and to those individuals noted on the privacy list of the Student Enrollment Form.

  • Students over the age of 18: Their progress information may be discussed only with those individuals noted on the privacy list of the Student Enrollment Form and not necessarily with the Guarantor unless the Guarantor's name appears in the privacy list.  All these names must have the student's initialed consent.

 K. Agreement

This agreement contains the entire agreement of the parties and supersedes all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral. This agreement shall be in conformance with the laws of the state of Florida.  The guarantor or student guarantor's signature on the enrollment form shall be evidence of the acceptance of the terms and conditions of this agreement.
