Rev. Summer 2009 National Education Consultants, Inc. (NEC), a Jensen Beach, Florida company, offers specialized seminars in preparation for the SAT and ACT. Our mission is to help students distinguish themselves by maximizing their success on college entrance examinations. SAT and ACT scores also establish the award level of Florida’s Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The highest level Bright Futures Scholarship award is the Florida Academic Scholar (FAS) followed by the Florida Medallion Scholar (FMS) and the Gold Seal Vocational Scholar (GSV). Beginning with the 2009-2010 academic year, Bright Futures recipients will receive a fixed cost per credit hour based on the award level (FAS, FMS, or GSV) and institution type (4-year, 2-year, Vocational/Technical). Visit the Florida Bright Futures website for specific scholarship awards.
NEC coursework, written and taught by co-owners and veteran educators Lisa Kilian and Karen Maxwell, covers subject content and test taking skills unique to the SAT and ACT including math, critical reading, and writing. We also provide private tutoring for students who achieve greater success when working one-on-one. NEC's small group seminars meet on Saturday and Sunday mornings preceding each of the SATs and ACTs throughout the academic year. Students may enroll in both math and critical reading/writing, or they may elect to take only one subject area. Professors Kilian and Maxwell hold Masters degrees in their fields, are Florida certified teachers, and have over 35 years combined teaching experience. They have been conducting SAT/ACT seminars in the area since 2006. Parents, school administrators, and guidance professionals may contact Professor Karen Maxwell (math) or Professor Lisa Kilian (critical reading/writing) to arrange seminars at school or off-campus locations. Seminars can be specialized for the unique requirements of a particular student group. Alternate schedules can also be arranged. All equipment, books, and materials are supplied by NEC. Parents may contact faculty individually to arrange private, one-on-one tutoring sessions. We invite you to read the following articles: | ||||
